ALBERTO MARTINEZ

Alberto is a formidable force in the synthpop scene, seamlessly blending talent, experience, and passion. As the lead vocalist, keyboardist, and guitarist, he embodies the essence of 80s nostalgia. With decades of expertise in esteemed projects such as Neuropa, Lunar Module, and the groundbreaking new wave band Moroderhead, his dedication to synthpop is unwavering.
Since the late 90s, Alberto has released over 15 albums of original music, debuting on the respected U.S. synthpop label A Different Drum. Each album is a testament to his exceptional skills in songwriting, production, and synthesiser arrangement. His state-of-the-art studio is equipped with both analogue synthesizers and modern technology, enabling him to produce high-quality recordings that capture the nuances of every performance.

STEVE BROUGHTON
Steve is a Sydney-based musician, songwriter, and vinyl DJ with over three decades of experience, performing everywhere from the sweatiest dive bars to the Sydney Opera House. He has played festivals across Australia, appeared live on breakfast television, and taken the stage at the prestigious South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas.
Known for his ability to faithfully recreate classic music and energize a crowd, Steve has played bass in high-end Sydney venues with tribute acts like Ripper 76, Masterpiece, and Dreams (a Fleetwood Mac show). However, his true passion lies in ‘80s dance music, making POP / REPUBLIK a project he pours his heart and soul into.

EUGENE DENNISON

Eugene (Eug) Dennison is an accomplished drummer with over 40 years of experience, currently lending his exceptional talent to Pop-Republik. Having honed his skills under the mentorship of renowned drummers such as Rex McCloud in New Zealand and Mitch Farmer in Australia, Eug’s drumming style is a dynamic blend of groove, funk, hip-hop, pop, dance, and blues. His versatility and proficiency have made him a sought-after musician in the industry.
Eug’s extensive career features collaborations with notable artists like Dave Dobbyn, Sharon O’Neill, and the legendary Eric Rasmussen from Heatwave. As a member of various bands, including the OG Band and Tommy and The Boys, he has graced venues such as RSLs, Leagues Clubs, and high-profile locations like The Basement and Metro. A highlight of his career was performing at the 2005 Tsunami Actor’s Guild Fundraiser alongside actor and frontman Nic Brown, showcasing his ability to thrive in diverse musical settings.
Eug draws inspiration from a wide range of music legends, including Steely Dan, Prince, and The Cure, seamlessly incorporating these influences into his performances. His unique sound and impeccable timing make Eug a pivotal figure in any musical ensemble. As a drum tutor, he is dedicated to sharing his passion and expertise with the next generation of musicians, ensuring the legacy of great drumming continues to thrive.
